THE DREAM : A vortex of black birds.

I nearly missed this dream. I would have if I had not seen a swirling soccer ball sized mass of black birds working as one assaulting a woman walking on a pathway nearby out of the corner of my eye. I had never seen this behavior by birds before so it engaged my sense of curiosity.

I saw the woman hounded by the ball of black birds that seemed to be terrifying to her and wondered about her experience.

The rest of the dream was every day really with the black birds flying normally about people picnicking in a park on a lovely clear sunny day.

My attention had drifted from this dream again as it didn’t seem too important to me till a ball of blackbirds coalesced into the same soccer ball mass and attacked me. I was a little surprised but accepted the dream content and wondered what would happen to me. The ball of blackbirds came in quickly and flapped furiously into my left ear.

I was expecting them to peck me but they just flapped into my ear so I was a bit distracted but I wasn’t afraid of them.

THE BACKGROUND:I had this dream a few days ago and didn’t write it up till now. I decided to write it up today because one of my friends revealed she has been really plagued by bad feelings about herself. I had contact with her just before this dream but did not notice I had picked up on her distress by the tone of her contact because the content of the contact did not make her distress clear to me.

Yesterday she contacted me again and her distress was made very clear. It seemed her first contact was the test the waters of my response to her before she decided to tell me how it is for her just now.

Having the benefit of hindsight I can see now the black birds in my dream are the negative self talk that plagues and frightens my friend. There was a time when these very same type of thoughts used to frighten me too but they don’t any more.

I feel this dream was showing me this emotional truth for me now. The dream actually helped me respond to my friend when she finally disclosed her distress so that I could hear her without being overwhelmed by what was plaguing her. There was a time when I would not have been able to handle her distress as we share some similar feelings and life challenges that have led me into to serious life threatening depression in the past.

For me this dream I nearly missed has turned out to be a rather sweet one and more important than I thought at the end of the day. It is plain speaking and simple. I kind of like that.

I just wanted to add here that my dream last night seemed connected to this one somehow. In my dream last night I was my current self and I was playing with the me I was as a child.

In the dream I was wholy the me I am now and really enjoyed playing with the child I really was. I had no desire to censure her or guide her - I just wanted to love her and for her to be able to play in a safe place full of my loving presence.

As I watched what she did in the dream I knew why she was the way she was and I was very gald to let her be herself. In the awake world when I was that child I was not allowed to be me. Now I can allow my child me to be herslf and I can love and forgive her just as she is - I do that now on my own behalf - it doesn't matter anymore that I was not understood or loved as I needed to be back then. In my dreams I can do that for myself.

I guess its better late than never. These days I feel a lot of inner peace I have not had previously.

Black birds are often a symbol of omens and bad thoughts about the future. It makes sense in this case. You have picked up some bad vibes coming from your friend. In one way they attack you ... you mention that you can get sucked into depressive feelings. So when thr black birds attack you then thats a symbol of that type of process.

I don't think it was any kind of telepathy or premonition.... just intuition. You just sensed something wrong.
