dream dictionary symbolism and analysis

This dream dictionary uses a bank of hundreds of real dreams to show how dream symbols translate into real life thoughts and feelings.

THE DREAM - I was half awake, and I could hear myself or someone else talking about the Ouija board that my friends and I might be trying soon. I can't remember everything I said, but the words ?Sixth Sense? popped up and I got this image of a severely burnt child. It was really scary and it woke me up. I felt a presence in the room and I was afraid so I asked my spirit guide to help me get back to sleep and make the other feeling go away.

GUESSWORK The dreamer had been thinking of doing a Ouija board with friends but was not sure as it seemed a bit frightening.

The "Guesswork" stage of interpreting a dream involves spotting issues likely to cause dreams. For help with this click here

ASSOCIATIONS AND SYMBOLIC MEANINGS
1. The Ouija board is probably a literal symbol. The dream is probably about her feelings about trying a Ouija board in real life.
2. The burnt child is a symbol of emotional fear. She fears that she maybe emotionally effected by trying the Ouija board. Fire is something that should not be messed with. In the same way a Ouija board is something that we should try to stay clear of. Its an obvious danger.
3. Children could represent her own feelings towards this Ouija board. A child dabbling in things that they do not understand. The innocence of a child and vulnerability to powers outside of their control. The dreamer would feel a similar sense of vulnerability if she tried a Ouija board.

DREAM ANALYSIS In guesswork the dream was linked to the dreamers thoughts about doing a Ouija board.
- A need to stay away from something dangerous
- Childlike fears and vulnerabilities

If you weave together the different themes you find that they could capture these thoughts -"I am thinking of trying a Ouija board. But maybe I should not dabble in something that is so dangerous."

We are often in two minds about doing something. Our dreams may play out possible worst possible scenarios. Here the bad things in the dream show that the dreamer has fears about trying the Ouija board. ----------------------------------------
