THE DREAM I was in the garden at our old house with my husband and our two boys. It was a lovely sunny afternoon. The boys were riding their bikes on the grass. A great enormous old tree with a huge trunk but shortish branches was in the way. It had no leaves. I said to Tim, that tree is in the way of the boys having fun and riding their bikes. And it looks dead to me. He said yes it does look dead. I said I think we should take it away. He said yes good idea. He went away to get something to chop it down with. I went up to the tree and I put my arms around it and I lifted it out of the ground. I could not believe my strength. The tree came away in my arms even though it would have been 4 to 5 meters tall and I could not get may arms all the way around it. To my surprise the tree had no roots whatsoever. It was just literally like a pole, went about 1 metre into the ground, but no roots. I wondered why it had not fallen over before as it had no roots. For some reason I cannot explain I felt relieved that the tree had no roots and had come out so easily. I put it down on the grass. I looked down, the hole that was left was huge, it was way bigger than the tree had been, it was about 4 metres diameter, I did not know why. I looked into the hole and it had lots of giant fat worms, they were white, they had crinkles a bit like maggots but I thought of them as worms. I thought they were beautiful. I felt so ahppy to see the worms. I got my children to marvel at these amazing worms as I thought they were such beautiful worms and I had never seen worms like that before.

GUESSWORK The night before the dreamer was thinking about her mother. She had always had a bad relationship with her and has been physically and mentally abused. Her dominant thoughts the day before where feelings of neglect and abandonment. The dreamer had tried to make Christmas a time for bringing the family together and heal wounds. Instead her mother rejected these attempts.

ASSOCIATIONS AND SYMBOLIC MEANINGS
1. The dreamer clearly was thinking about something that was clearly dead the night before. She was thinking about the state of her relationship with her mother. This was clearly dead.
2. The dream features family and a family home. That can be associated with anything family orientated. In this case the dreamer was thinking about her family the day before. Its quite possibly related to her feelings about family. 3. In the dream the tree was easy to uproot. That's suggesting that something in life is easier than the dreamer believes it to be. The dreamer constantly finds it difficult to give up on her mother. Yet her present intuitions are telling her to give up. That she is putting too much effort into something that is clearly not working. That she really has to cut out the dead wood and get on with things.
