dream dictionary symbolism and analysis

This dream dictionary uses a bank of hundreds of real dreams to show how dream symbols translate into real life thoughts and feelings.

THE DREAM I was at some sort of camp - forest-type earth covered in brown pine-needles. Rough wooden lean-to type structures. A bit like the paintball forests. It was night-time and I was asleep, sort of in the open. A guy woke me to point something out. I opened my eyes and looked to my left, probably about 50 yards away. There was a baby elephant-squirrel lumbering past. It had the body of a baby elephant and the small and lacklustre tail of a gray squirrel. As it went by it turned its head and stared right at me. Its eyes were like two white saucers spaced close together, unblinking. The black pupils were like pinpoints in the centre. I screamed and woke myself up with the screaming."

GUESSWORK The dreamer felt that this dream was about her marriage and some realizations about it. She thought that the strange elephant creature was her husband and she was the inconsequential squirrel bit. The elephant being huge and overwhelming without noticing anything. The dream made the dreamer realise how distant she had become from her husband.

The "Guesswork" stage of interpreting a dream involves spotting issues likely to cause dreams. For help with this click here

ASSOCIATIONS AND SYMBOLIC MEANINGS
1. TWO ANIMALS JOINED. If this dream is about the issue mentioned in guesswork then two animals joined together is certainly a good symbol for marriage. A man and woman joined together.
2. ELEPHANT. The dreamer felt that the elephant represented her husband who was overhwelming and dominant. It was a baby elephant which makes it even more clumsy and immature and capable of trampling over things without noticing.
3. SQUIRREL. The squirrel is the other part of the creature and its definitely playing a minor part. It provides the tail which just tags along at the end.
4. STARE. The creature stares at this. Staring in dreams often just represents moments of realisation.

DREAM ANALYSIS In guesswork the dream was linked to the dreamers relationship with her husband. The dream deals with the following themes
- overwhelming and immature
- inconsequential
- Two beings joined together

If you weave together the different themes you find that they could capture these thoughts - "I am just starting to realise how distant I am becoming from my husband. He dominates the relationship and does not realise or notice me."
